Chapter 15

Christ's trial, crucifixion, and burial.

1)And straightway in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and;

2)And the whole council condemned him, and bound Jesushim, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

23)And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

4)And heJesus answering, said unto themhim, ThouI am, even as thou sayest it.

35)And the chief priests accused him of many things:; but he answered nothing.

46)And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? beholdBehold how many things they witness against thee.

57)But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelledmarveled.

68)Now it was common at thatthe feast, hefor releasedPilate to release unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.

79)And there was onea man named Barabbas, which lay bound with them thatwho had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.

810)And the multitude, crying aloud, began to desire him to dodeliver as he had ever doneJesus unto them.

911)But Pilate answered unto them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

1012)For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

1113)But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them, as he had before done unto them.

1214)And Pilate answeredspake again and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do untowith him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

1315)And they cried out again, Deliver him unto us to be crucified. Away with him. Crucify him.

1416)Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And

17)But they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

1518)And sonow Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

1619)And, the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they callcalled together the whole band.;

1720)And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it aboutupon his head,;

1821)And began to salute him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!Jews.

1922)And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

2023)And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

2124)And they compelcompelled one Simon, a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

2225)And they bring him unto the place called Golgotha, which is, (being interpreted,) The place of a skullburial.

2326)And they gave him to drink, winevinegar mingled with myrrh:gall; butand when he receivedhad ittasted the vinegar, he would not drink.

2427)And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.

2528)And it was the third hour, andwhen they crucified him.

2629)And thePilate superscription ofwrote his accusation wasand writtenput overit upon the cross, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

2730)There were certain of the chief priests who stood by, that said unto Pilate, Write, that he said, I am the King of the Jews.

31)But Pilate said unto them, What I have written, I have written.

32)And with him they crucifycrucified two thieves;, the one on his right hand, and the other on his left.

2833)And the scripture was fulfilled, which saithsaid, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

2934)And they thatwho passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou thatwho destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, 30)Save save thyself, and come down from the cross.

3135)Likewise also, the chief priests mocking, said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

3236)Let Christ, the King of Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe.

37)And theyone thatof werethem who was crucified with him, reviled him also, saying, If thou art the Christ, save thyself and us.

3338)And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land, until the ninth hour.

3439)And at the ninth hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

3540)And some of them thatwho stood by, when they heard ithim, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

3641)And one ran and filled a spungesponge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink; others spake, saying, Let him alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

3742)And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.

3843)And the veil of the temple was rent in twain, from the top to the bottom.

3944)And when the centurion, whichwho stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly, this man wasis the Son of God.

4045)There were also women looking on afar off:, among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the lessyounger, and of Joses, and Salome; 41)(Who who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women whichwho came up with him unto Jerusalem.

4246)And now, when the even was come,; because it was the preparation day, that is, the day before the sabbathSabbath,

4347)Joseph of ArimathaeaArimathea, an honourablehonorable counsellorcounselor, whichwho also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. 44) And Pilate marvelledmarveled, and asked him if he were already dead: and.

48)And calling unto him the centurion, he asked him, whetherIf he had been any while dead.?

4549)And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

4650)And heJoseph bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchresepulcher which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchresepulcher.

4751)And Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of Joses, beheld where he was laid.
